Pat Milbery scores the cover of Transworld (TW Business) 2013 SIA Issue

Well, I guess it’s only right to say So-Gnar’s Pat Milbery and photographer Chris Faronea received their Christmas presents early this year. What an unexpected and awesome surprise that arrived to our inbox this fine Friday morning of the 14th day of December, 2012.
We couldn’t be more excited for the two of them scoring the cover of Transworld Business SIA Issue. This issue will help guide the thousands of companies, buyers, athletes and show visitors with a cool reference for a heightened experience at the Snow Sports Show at the Denver Convention Center downtown January 31 – February 3rd.
For a little history on this shot, allow us to update your brain matter. Artist Joseph Riche was commissioned to create a set of welded shipping containers into urban street art by The City of Denver. The title of the art installation is called “Trade Deficit”, which Milbery became absolutely obsessed with and waited very patiently until “The perfect storm’ to incorporate his art of snowboarding without damaging Joseph’s work. “When I saw the Joseph’s work, I quickly became obsessed with it’s unique shapes and un-tradional appearance. I would skateboard around the structure for hours actively imagining the best approach to incorporating snowboarding onto the public art. The last thing I would ever want to do is damage the structure, which we successfully did not do” – Pat Milbery

“Artist Joseph Riché’s Trade Deficit is a trio of sculptures situated along Broadway at Lawrence, Larimer and Blake, the most significant of which is located at Blake. The sculptures are intended to create a literal and conceptual gateway for the industrial/residential neighborhood of River North (RiNo), activating a main route into downtown Denver from the airport and beyond.
